Just a thought…

Isn’t RIP a weird phrase? It’s essentially saying “I sincerely hope that, after your death, no-one digs up your corpse and performs some kind of puppet show with it/kicks it a bit” or perhaps “I hope no-one causes a fuss in the graveyard and disturbs your eternal rest.”

I just thought I’d share that thought.

Straw

Also, is it just me that gets weirded (I know it’s not a word) out by everyday things sometimes? I got very peturbed by a straw the other day. What’s the actual point? Who invented it? Why?!

Re: RIP: I also think the phrase “they had a good innings” is a little inconsiderate too… To me it sounds like another way of saying “it’s about damn time!”

It’s seems a strange thing to say really, especially as a tool for consolation… It’s as if you’re trying to imply that it doesn’t matter that [the deceased] had bought it because they’d lived for long enough anyway.

People say the strangest things don’t they? I should know…

heh, J, yes you should. :)

RIP ponderings: Please rest in peace because it means you’re not bothered by all the crappy things I did to you and are now up and about haunting me?

Straws have to have been invented by moms who were tired of their husbands giving their kids red Kool-Aid just to have them spilled over the newly mopped floor for the fiftieth time in a row! Except that I’m sure straws came before Kool-Aid. Possibly before kids, as well. Either way, I like straws. They make my life easier. I’m more concerned about what that guy is drinking through his straw that’s making him feel sooooo mellow.
