Week Two – Done!

The past week has gone by very fast and I’ve learned a lot of new stuff already. I jointed a chicken (badly), filleted  a fish (badly), cooked and ate lamb kidney and did lots of other things as well. I somehow managed to get 6 out of 6 for my duchesse potato (mash) which was good and haven’t got a mark lower than 5 so far so I seem to be doing ok. So far I’ve been familiar with everything, but we’re getting into things I’ve never cooked before so that’s going to be good.

It’s a bank holiday this weekend and I thought it was about time I stopped being a wuss and got to know some people so went to the pub last night. I felt a bit rubbish this morning, but it was definitely worth it. I’m going for dinner in one of the other cottages tonight so it looks like I might manage some kind of social life here, hurray!

We went to Tesco yesterday and I’ve already started feeling guilty when I buy non-organic stuff, so god knows what I’ll be like when I finish the course. It’s crazy expensive here as well – a bottle of vodka is about double the price you’d pay in the UK and there were no bottles of wine cheaper than 7.99 so I won’t be drinking much. That can only be a good thing though.

I’ve taken a few more pictures so will try to upload them soon. It’s all good here – so far I’m very glad I came!
